Alyson McNamara & The Nomads play innovative music that could be described as roots/rock/pop. The band was formed just over a year ago and has been playing Alyson's original songs in Toronto venues such as The Cameron House, The El Mocambo and Mitzi's Sister. Their performances have been demanding the attention of many Toronto music fans, with full, responsive audiences at every show. The band members -- Alyson McNamara on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Joe Tavella on electric slide guitar, Steve Lavery on keyboards and piano, Mark Sanders on bass and Kevin Richards on drums -- bring together their eclectic musical tastes to create something classic yet fresh. Their earthy sounds inspired by The Band and Bob Dylan are fused with current musical visions inspired by The Black Crowes, Wilco and Sarah Harmer.
