Andrea Ramolo
Like her voice, Andrea Ramolo's song writing and live performance exude confidence, emotion, and sexuality. She is a fearless entertainer who bleeds her heart out on stage. Often compared to Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin, Lucinda Williams, and Emmy-Lou Harris, Andrea has been praised for her unabashed approach to songwriting, her commitment to storytelling, and the raw, honest, and captivating presence she brings to her live performance. October 2008 marks the release of Andrea's debut album "Thank You For The Ride" produced by Canadian drummer (Thornley, Serena Ryder, Hawksley Workman, Big Sugar, Alannah Myles) and first-time producer Eric Paul. Andrea heads out on an East Coast Canadian tour in October 2008, followed by her official Toronto release party at the Dakota Tavern. In November, Andrea has an Ontario tour lined up before heading to Nashville for a showcase of her music. Over the past year, Andrea has been featured on the Nova Scotia based online radio program “Women of the 90’s”, where her song "Late Night Lovin'' was voted #1! She is also featured on CBC Radio 3’s online program. She has performed at a handful of summer folk music festivals, including the famous Mariposa Folk Festival in Orillia, Ontario with musical colleague Cindy Doire. In 2004, Andrea was cast in Disney’s made-for-TV movie Once Upon a Mattress, starring Carol Burnett and Tracy Ullman. She recorded two songs for the movie’s soundtrack at the CBC in Vancouver. In 2005, Andrea became the lead female vocalist for one of Toronto’s most popular cover bands, Stifler’s Mom. Andrea was also the female voice of Oliver Piggot and the Dropship Daddies. She has shared the stage with French-Canadian singer/songwriter Cindy Doire; has been a part of the demo recordings for Canadian rock’n’roll group The Trews; and has also lent her voice to a handful of demo recordings for Martha and the Muffins, the Strip, Oh No Forest Fires, and folk singer/songwriter John Riven. Her music has been featured at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre as part of a self-created production that opened for Anthony Minghella’s Whale Music. Furthermore, the Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival has also granted her the opportunity to showcase her music. She has performed at Toronto’s infamous Orbit Room, Yorkville’s Sassafraz, Free Times Café, The Gladstone Hotel, The Boat, Mitzi’s Sister, The Cameron House, C'est What, The Local, Healey’s, and more. Her debut album "Thank You For The Ride" will be available for purchase in October 2008.
